Crocker Art Museum Auction
Big Names, Small Art is May 24th at 6pm this year. I will be going and it is usually both entertaining and interesting. The painting I donated is 12 x 12 inches and called Fifty.
Also, Cinquanta was selected for the live Auction on June 2nd. I assume it will hang in the galleries upstairs like last year.
Both paintings are on this site under works/2012.
This is the statement for the pieces recently purchased by USC.
Layers of brush strokes, writings, scratches, bit of random travel debris, and photographic images infuse the wooden panel with the spirit and energy of temporal and spatial collaboration. Past and future land in the present, entwined in the painted language.
In this seriers, I see the circles as worlds of diverse cultures and as people whose lives and souls intersct--swirling in the individual anbitions, struggles, beliefs and joys. Here worlds and individuals overlap, influence, and relinquish to one another with grace.
